COLA was started 10 years ago by Coach Colleen Barczyk. It began with just five swimmers. In the past ten years COLA has grown to a team with over 150 swimmers year round of all ages and levels. 
•COLA is a locally owned and opperated swim team based here in the Lafayette community.
•COLA has Level Two Club Recognition through United States Swimming. The Club Recognition Program is one that recognizes clubs for their organization, athlete and coach development, and education and athlete performance. COLA is the first team in Louisiana to achieve this standard.
• Each year COLA graduates seniors and sends them on to swim on college scholarships. COLA has had swimmers at University of Kentucky, Delta State University, Lake Forest College, Ouachita Baptist University, Louisiana State University, Rose Hulman, Columbia University, Lehigh University, and Brenau University.
• COLA has put several swimmers at the national level- including Junior and Senior Nationals and Sectionals.
• Each year COLA has several swimmers of all ages qualify and compete in the LA State Championship where they consistently place in the top 16, 8, and 3 in their respective events.
• COLA has had several United State Swimming Scholastic All Americans.
• COLA is a proud sponsor of the Miles Perret Center Games of Acadiana.
• COLA is instrumental in the running and development of the Acadiana High School Swim League in Lafayette. See our high school link on the front page.
Our mission is to provide Lafayette and the surrounding areas with a competitive and recreational swim program that encompasses swimmers of all ages and abilities. Our goal is to develop life skills and confidence through the sport of swimming... Swimming is an individualized sport, unlike other choices athletes/children have today, that teaches the value of delayed gratification, personal improvement and long-term goal setting. COLA strives to provide a healthy, fun, and positive environment to reach those goals. Swimming is for everyone--of all ages and abilities!
